Vincent W. Lambert, born February 4, 1921 in Willits, California to Will and Isabelle Lambert, left his family for a better place on November 6, 2011. Preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Mabel. Survived by sons James Lambert and Mike Lambert, granddaughters Carolyn Lambert and Catherine Burrell, grandson Jim Lambert, three great-grandchildren Michael, Katherine, and Morgan, and one great-great-granddaughter, Abigail.
After graduating from his one room high school, Vincent worked in the North Coast Redwoods as a timber cruiser and shake splitter but that was not to last. He was interested in communication and followed his dream and went into broadcasting. Following graduation from radio communication tech school he enlisted in the Army where he immediately was assigned to begin monitoring Japanese communications. He was involved in breaking the Japanese codes and eventually traveled to the Philippines and then to Japan, Vincent had an excellent radio voice and following his military service he moved to Redding, California and went to work as an announcer at KVCV radio. He eventually moved to Arcata, California where he partnered with several individuals and started radio station KENL.
After a few years he decided he would move on to television and went to work for KCRA, Channel 3 in Sacramento where he was an audio engineer and did many voice over commercials. During his 44-year broadcasting career he also played the guitar and fiddle and sang on the radio with country western singer Charlie Marshall. Right up to his passing he was always complemented on his wonderful voice. Vincent also loved to fish and spent many days dip netting for surf fish on the North Coast. Later in life you could find him on the golf course walking 9 holes right up to his 89th birthday. Vincent will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends.
