Fred Lindsay, former Chief Engineer at KXTV Channel 10 in Sacramento, lost his battle with cancer April 28, 2010.
Fred retired from the station in June 1999 after more than 30 years serving in many capacities in the Engineering Department, including the position of Chief Engineer.
Fred loved his work and the people who worked with him over those years, said his family. He was remembered by co-workers as an engineer with old-school work ethics and full of knowledge.
Fred was not only involved in the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department but was also responsible for many technological advancements over the years. For example, he was instrumental in the planning and construction of a 2,000-foot-tall transmission tower in Walnut Grove, and the weather tower at the News10 studios on Broadway.
Lindsay is survived by his wife Sandy, three daughters, two sons-in-law, five grandsons and two granddaughters. Fred Lindsay was 70 years old.

When I joined KXTV in 1998 as an IT specialist, Fred spent time teaching me the administration and technical aspects of the station's phone system. Always patient, professional, and genuinely kind, Fred impressed me as being a true gentleman and that impression never changed the entire time I knew him. To know Fred was to like and respect him. My sincere condolences to his family and to all who will miss him.
